Fred has been in the financial services industry for over 22 years and has managed client portfolios through numerous economic and market cycles. Fred holds several professional designations including the Certified Financial Planner®, Chartered Financial Consultant® and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designations. He was recently recognized by the Consumers’ Research Council of American as one of America’s Top Financial Planners for 2008. Fred’s professional memberships include the Investment Management Consultants Association and the Center for Fiduciary Studies (FI360), which sponsors the Accredited Investment Fiduciary education program and designation.

Fred recently spoke at ASAE’s Finance and Business Operations Symposium on ‘How to Protect your Portfolio from the Next Crisis ’a topic within Investment Management. He was also a vendor sponsor at last year’s event. Over the past two years, he has hosted several webcasts on investment and fiduciary topics for association and nonprofit executives. Fred serves as a volunteer for the ASAE’s Dollars and Sense Newsletter, an online publication of ASAE published on a bimonthly basis. Last fall, he wrote an article on UPMIFA and its impact on the nonprofit community. He is also preparing an article for an upcoming issue of Dollars and Sense on Governance Issues and the Investment Decision Making Process.

Fred sits on the Nonprofit Symposium planning committee. The Nonprofit Symposium is an annual event for CPAs who serve in both the public accounting fields and the nonprofit executive ranks. Last year’s event hosted over 450 professionals at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. The planning committee formulates the agenda for the conference, including workshop topics, speakers, and sponsors.

Personal
Fred lives in Reston, VA with his wife, Cathy. They are both active exercisers and enjoy long bicycle rides on the weekends. Fred volunteers weekly at Martha’s Table. Martha’s Table is a local nonprofit that is the only DC nonprofit that takes food out to the homeless. Once a week, Fred drives one of the two vans that deliver food to the DC area, rain shine, or even snow, 365 days a year. Once a month, employees of the DC Metro offices of RBC Wealth Management join Fred in this service. Fred and Cathy are also local leaders in a ministry called the Great Banquet. The Great Banquet is a three day spiritual renewal weekend held four times a year in Vienna, VA.
