Hans H. Wegner
National Geographic Society
Hans is the Vice President of Productions services. In this capacity, he is responsible for the manufacturing of the National Geographic magazine. This entails managing all the pre-press work, the printing, binding, quality control and distribution of the magazine. He is also responsible for the Society's Imaging Lab (formerly Photo Lab) which is our in-house photo imaging, reproduction, printmaking, and archiving service. In addition, he is responsible for the Society's Postal and Distribution Division.

He is also heading up the Society's initiative to green its operations, with the stated goal of "Walking the Talk". The GoGreen Committee that he chairs is putting into action sustainability plans and carbon reduction initiatives in our operations and with our suppliers.

Hans learned the printing business by serving an apprenticeship in a small commercial printing company here in the Washington metro area. Areas of Hans' expertise are in printing, paper, best forestry practices, and environmental sustainability.

Hans has a BA in American History with a minor in Economics from the University of Maryland. He serves on the Garrett Park Town Council and is an active volunteer for the homeless, the American Red Cross, the neighborhood civic association, and several environmental organizations.
He and his wife live in Garrett Park, Md. where they raised three children of their own and three foster children from Vietnam and Sudan.
