Ted Browning, CPA
Johnson & Lambert Co., LLP
Ted Browning is a Partner in the Virginia office of Johnson Lambert & Co. LLP. Ted is responsible for providing audit, tax, and consulting services to Associations and Other Non-Profits and Employee Benefit Plans clients. Ted’s qualifications are extensive reflecting over 35 years of experience. Ted served on the AICPA’s Not-for-Profit Committee during the period in which numerous accounting standards relevant to non-profit organizations were developed. As a member of the committee, Ted was directly involved in the rewriting of the AICPA’s Audit and Accounting Guide for Not-for-Profit Organizations. He has a common sense approach to reaching the right answer on difficult technical matters – pulling from his deep knowledge of the non-profit accounting industry from his various positions on the AICPA committees. He brings an understanding of the intent of technical guidance rather than only the words of the issued guidance as a result of his involvement in the development of relevant literature.

Prior to joining Johnson Lambert & Co.LLP, he was responsible for the not-for-profit practice of Ernst & Young in Washington, D.C. where he served numerous not-for-profit organizations. At Ernst & Young, he served as Area Director of Human Resources and was responsible for recruiting and human resources management of five offices with over one thousand employees.

In addition to his AICPA membership, Ted is also a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, American Society of Association Executives, Greater Washington Society of Association Executives, and served as Treasurer and Board member of the Women in Military Service for the America Memorial Foundation. He is a frequent lecturer on accounting, auditing and not-for-profit management issues. He has taught technical training sessions on OMB Circular A-133 and FASB 116 & 117 and co-authored the United Way of America's FASB 116 and 117 Implementation Guide.

Ted is the father of four and lives in Germantown, Maryland. He is involved in many church and civic activities and enjoys coaching basketball as well as spending time flying, skiing and biking with his family.
