Lou Mezzina, based in KPMG's NYC office, is an audit partner and KPMG’s National Industry Director for Higher Education and Other Not-for-Profits. In this national role, he serves as a resource to several of the firm's clients and their service teams, leads internal knowledge sharing efforts, and is a frequent speaker on matters of interest to higher education and other not-for-profit institutions. With more than 34 years of experience, Lou has served many of KPMG's clients, including the Archdiocese of New York, Dartmouth College, Fordham University, Johns Hopkins University, March of Dimes, St. John’s University, and Wildlife Conservation Society.
He joined what was then Peat Marwick Mitchell & Company in 1974, and since 1982 has served higher education and other not-for-profit organization clients exclusively.
A certified public accountant, Lou is a member of the AICPA and served on its Not-for-Profit Organizations Committee from 1994 to 1997, following service as chairman of the New York State Society’s Nonprofit Organizations Committee. He is a frequent presenter at KPMG, AICPA, and NACUBO conferences and seminars.
Lou received a B.S. degree in accounting, summa cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany. He is a past-president of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York.
