Janice is CB&H’s Firm Director of Nonprofit Tax Services, overseeing all tax compliance and consulting matters that impact the Firm’s tax-exempt clients. An attorney and a Certified Public Accountant, Janice has more than 15 years of experience serving the taxation needs of exempt organizations.
Based in the Firm’s Charlotte office, Janice helps CB&H’s nonprofit clients analyze the potential tax issues that may impact their organizations and their operations, and coordinates all aspects of tax compliance and information reporting services. She continuously monitors legislative and regulatory developments affecting taxexempt entities in order to keep her clients informed of the latest industry trends.
As a senior member of the Not-For-Profit industry group, Janice’s clients include a broad array of tax-exempt organizations, including educational institutions, healthcare systems, charitable and religious organizations, as well as foundations, museums, social clubs and trade associations.
This expertise serving a multitude of organizations has enabled Janice to earn the reputation as a trusted advisor with the keen ability to develop valuable solutions on behalf of all clients. Specifically, Janice has assisted with obtaining and maintaining tax-exempt status, minimizing unrelated business taxable income, structuring joint ventures, preventing excess benefit transactions, and successfully assisting organizations during IRS examination. In addition, she has specialized knowledge with respect to various employment tax matters, including worker classification determination and taxation of fringe benefits.
Janice received her Bachelor of Science in Finance and Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA). Janice is the author of numerous newsletter and journal articles and is a frequent speaker at various nonprofit seminars.
