Eric H. West, a founding partner of West, Lane & Schlager (WLS), specializes in tenant representation and strategic real estate consulting.

Eric began his real estate career in 1987. He has combined analytical skills, business operations and management experience and understanding of the transaction process to assist his clients achieve long term results that are measurably significant transactions. Eric has developed a specialty in not-for-profit organizations and corporations in long–term real estate planning/transactions. This has led to ongoing relationships with such diverse groups as The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Save the Children International, The Ocean Conservancy, The National Council on the Aging, The American Iron & Steel Institute and The Pew Research Center.

Eric’s unique, relationship-building approach to commercial real estate has resulted in a high percentage of repeat business. In fact, the majority of Eric’s clients have come back seeking his assistance with other aspects of their organization’s real estate requirements.

Industry peers also acknowledge the analysis and creativity recognized by his clients. In 1993, he received the Washington, D.C. Association of Realtor’s prestigious Transaction of the Year Award for his work on behalf of The American Forest and Paper Association. He was a top ten producer in the District of Columbia in 1993 and 1994, and is life member of the Greater Washington Commercial Association of Realtors multimillion dollar leasing award, earning that benchmark for 13 consecutive years, beginning in 1990.

Eric is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program, class of 2004. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in American history from Tulane University.

Eric is a member of the board of directors of Eagle Bank (NASDAQ: EGBN), of Bethesda, Maryland, MicroBioTest, Inc. of Chantilly, Virginia, Israel Bonds, and the board of governors of the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington.

From 1998 to 2001, Eric served as the District of Columbia Chair of the Greater Washington, Commercial Association of REALTORS, and he is currently an active member, speaker and contributing writer of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE) and the Financial & Administration Roundtable (FAR).

Eric successfully completed the LEED Accredited Professional Exam, becoming a LEED Accredited Professional. The exam is administered by the U.S. Green Building Council, which represents the building industry on environmental building matters. LEED Accredited Professionals have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System.
